Analysis software

Velocity

Purpose-built telemetry analysis for professional motorsport, intuitive for drivers and coaches and deep enough for every question an engineer asks. Highly performant even on weaker hardware, with extensive interactive visualizations, a powerful math channel and event engine, cloud integration and AI integration for Claude and ChatGPT.

Extensive interactive visualizations

Plots, track maps, lap tables, histograms, scatter and G-force plots, readouts and synchronized video. Every view is fully interactive and follows the same cursor.

  • Choose between multiple cursor types Compare laps by their position on track, by travelled distance or by laptime.
  • Track maps Powerful track map visualizations. Compare the cars' positioning or visualize data, so you can see at a glance where the time is won.
  • Tables and value widgets Analyze complex metrics, by lap and by sector.
  • Histograms, scatter and G-force plots Visualize multidimensional data and make connections visible.
  • Synchronized video Onboard video, always in sync with your data.

Laps, sectors and track definitions

Velocity splits every outing into laps and sectors from a track definition, so comparisons line up sector by sector.

  • Optimal laps

The best sectors combined into an optimal lap, per file and across everything loaded.

  • Reference laps

Pick a reference lap and compare every other lap against it.

  • Track definitions

Define tracks based on your laps, automatically built for your car and the conditions.

Lap details Lap and sector times, optimal laps and metrics for every lap.

Powerful math channel and event engine

Describe a calculation or a condition once, and Velocity applies it to every lap of every outing.

  • Math channels Derive new channels from existing ones, with units, a live preview and a reusable library.
  • Event detectors Find every moment a condition is met, and list the events for each outing.
  • Script settings Named values with units, set globally or per page, so one script fits every car.

Cloud integration

Velocity connects to Newton Cloud and to Newton devices on track.

  • Your team's library

Open the current event, outings, laps and track definitions from Newton Cloud directly.

  • Upload

Share outings, laps and track definitions with the team.

  • Live data

Analyze live data from Newton devices while the car is on track.

AI integration

Velocity is architected from the ground up to be fully steered by AI agents. Connect Claude or ChatGPT and they set up visualizations, analyze laps and explain where the time is, doing for race car data analysis what AI agents are doing for software.

  • Sets up your analysis

Ask for a braking comparison and the agent builds the page: plots, track maps and readouts, configured for the question.

  • Analyzes laps

Compares laps, sectors and drivers and explains the differences with numbers from your data.

  • Builds math channels and event detectors

Drafts new channels and detectors, checks them against your laps and adds them to your library.

  • Works with the tools you use

Connect Claude Desktop, Claude Code, ChatGPT Desktop or Codex in Velocity's settings, or script Velocity from the command line.

You

Compare my fastest lap with the reference lap and show me where I'm losing time in the braking zones.

Claude
Steps
  1. Step 5: Compared lap and sector times of the fastest lap (Practice 2, lap 3) against the reference (Practice 1, lap 4) telemetry.query_with_reference
  2. Step 7: Checked channel mappings of Monza Practice 2: no throttle, brake, steering or gear mapping; logger channels ecu_ath, log_pbrake_f, log_asteer, ecu_gear exist telemetry.channels
  3. Step 9: Mapped throttle, brake pressure, steering, gear and RPM to the logger channels in Monza Practice 2 source_configuration.configure
  4. Step 16: Created page 'Braking zones: fastest vs reference': Delta T, Speed, Brake and Throttle plots, a time-gain track map (±0.04 green/red scale) and a lap table, with the Heavy Braking detector marking every braking zone pages.compose
  5. Step 18: Highlighted the Lesmo braking zones (2034–2606 m) as the comparison range cursor.set_comparison_range
  6. Step 22: Added an Events list of the detected braking zones (peak brake pressure per zone) for both laps widgets.create

Your fastest lap (Monza Practice 2, lap 3, 1:52.237) is 1.139 s quicker than the reference (Practice 1, lap 4, 1:53.376), and most of that comes from braking zones: Rettifilo −0.49 s (4.7 km/h more minimum speed, full throttle 17.5 m earlier), Ascari −0.23 s and Roggia −0.19 s.

Where you lose time is the two Lesmos, +0.10 s across the highlighted section:

  • Lesmo 1, +0.08 s: you brake at the same point (2,094 m vs 2,096 m) but come off the brake 10 m earlier, carry 0.4 km/h less minimum speed (123.8 vs 124.2 km/h) and reach full throttle 11 m later.
  • Lesmo 2, +0.03 s in the corner, then another +0.07 s on the run to Ascari: full throttle comes 10 m later, so you are about 2 km/h slower onto the straight (157 vs 159 km/h at 2,650 m).
  • Parabolica is a wash (−0.002 s): you brake 7.5 m earlier and carry 5.2 km/h more minimum speed, but get back to full throttle 84 m later than on the reference.

I built a 'Braking zones: fastest vs reference' page with delta, speed, brake and throttle plots, a time-gain map and the detected braking zones; the cursor is on Lesmo 1 and the Lesmo section is highlighted.

A real session: Claude, connected to Velocity, built this page and answered with numbers from the loaded laps.

Works with your data
